There are concerns about the exploitation and abuse of Ukrainian refugees by Czech employers. Can anything be done against this? And will the arrival of Ukrainians enrich the Czech labour market?

We should be much more worried about the fact that the newly arrived Ukrainians will drive down the prices of workers and craftsmen below the cost of living. In addition to a sharp rise in energy prices and a sharp rise in food prices, wages may fall and mass unemployment may arise.

Of course, this is solvable. That’s what we pay the government to find the solution. But the solution is not to recite the leaflet that the market will cope.

Personally, I think that migrants from Ukraine can really enrich us, unlike migrants from African and Muslim countries. They are culturally close to us, they can assimilate. But we need to resolve the issues of housing, maintaining the current level of salaries for manual professions, the issues of prices, living standards, security, healthcare and so on. This solution cannot be at the expense of the Czech people. You cannot accommodate Ukrainians by abolishing municipal and social housing for Czech people.

What is most lacking at this stage?

Critical reason. Intellectuals, and members of the government, are behaving like three-year-olds. Perhaps it is indeed the case that there is a ruler to the east of us with psychopathic traits, the capacity for very decisive action and hundreds of nuclear missiles. Well, let’s act accordingly. Let’s try to influence him, build our own defenses, and make contingency plans. Let’s start intensive militia training. Let’s rapidly build nuclear shelters. Let’s improve the physical fitness and encourage the masculinity and combativeness of Czech men.

But so far the Czech government seems to know nothing but to provoke the ruler. And that the Prime Minister, ministers and others don’t understand that they are playing with the lives of real people.
