Do the events of the last few days bring any small positive aspect? For example, the fact that photos of busty girls in swimsuits with machine guns are no longer an expression of sexism and chauvinism, but an expression of standing on the right side of history. There isn’t a model who hasn’t shown up with a gun to fight the Russian army. Even these small details can have repercussions and can slow down the gender fight against normal sexuality.

There is something much more fundamental to this. It could happen that suddenly it is legitimate to exercise, to improve physical condition, to train with a weapon… The “toxic masculinity” that has been condemned by Westerners is suddenly admired as far as the Ukrainians are concerned. Even violent white nationalism is suddenly politically correct as long as it is Ukrainian. Even the swastika symbols don’t bother woke liberals.

I think it’s over the top and wrong. Some ugly violent things are not to be encouraged. But overall it would be very positive if western nations learned to defend themselves. If they learned to value character traits like toughness and combativeness.

It doesn’t matter in principle if it’s primarily against the Russians, the Turks, or even the Canadians. When a country’s defenses are raised, that’s always great. When people are fitter, it’s always great. And it always leads to better mental health, and healthier political views.

Of course, there’s a high risk that it will all end up in cyber-bitching about the Russians, making humiliating speeches and ostentatious displays of hatred. But at least there’s a chance.
