Professor Oskar Krejci’s observation:
What unites Putin and Trump that they can get along so easily? Both are political realists. This means that both can define their interests (i.e. the interests of their countries), they can negotiate them, they are clear about their priorities, and they are both aware of their strength and their capabilities.
If a third party with the same approach were sitting at the table with them, they would agree with them too. But they can hardly find common ground with someone who doesn’t know what they want and only deals with emotions or headlines.
See, it makes perfect sense. And we don’t even need conspiracy stories about Trump being a Russian agent or Putin being an American agent or both being agents of someone else.
