For perhaps the second time I read an article about how our only problem is that the West has lost faith in itself (this time by Fareed Zakaria), and in its own values. And sometimes that is spot on.
It’s just that when you close down factories and throw workers on the pavement so that managers can pay themselves bigger bonuses. When you treat your own people like garbage. When you wage terrorist attacks against your own allies and blow up their vital pipelines. When you force another ally to let a million people die in an unnecessary war…then your problem is not a lack of faith in yourself. Then your problem is that you’ve become a monster.
