Judges in the UK have been given an official directive that they are to take into account the religion of the offender when determining sentences, with lower sentences to be imposed on members of a “religious minority”. It is not hard to guess who this ‘religious minority’ is. We can therefore expect another wave of conversions to Islam, this time among convicted offenders.

It has not caused any outrage and, in fact, has not attracted any attention. It is a good illustration of the most common way of changing laws in general – not just the introduction of Sharia law in European countries. It simply becomes the practice that Muslim rapists and murderers are not sent to prison. Occasionally, this causes a wave of outrage, but it usually escapes attention. The big media ignores it and it gets lost in the alternative media amongst a bunch of nonsense. Gradually the country gets used to it until it starts to be taken more or less for granted. Formalities such as issuing a decree or passing a law are then just formalities that no one pays attention to. Nothing changes, only the factual situation is confirmed.

When I write that, in the most likely scenario, Islam will be declared the state religion in most European countries within a generation, I am not referring to something along the lines of the Taliban conquering Afghanistan. I am thinking only of formalisation in societies that will already be governed by sharia law.
