Minority rights, as we hear and read about them in recent years, are a typical zero-sum game. If you favor redheads, you effectively take away the rights of non-redheads. When you privilege blacks, whites and Asians pay the price. You privilege whites, blacks and Asians pay the price. And so on. The same is true for women and men and every other group.
Rights advocates may not have realized it before, but in the last generation they have been pushing it deliberately, cynically, and unscrupulously. When they want to help blacks, they don’t even pay attention to blacks anymore, they purposely push for action that harms whites. Women’s rights are implemented through attacks on men.
But in reality, helping anyone is not necessary to be such a zero-sum game. When the Roma start to take proper care of their children and when they start to work, not only will they benefit, but the majority society will benefit. When people with real psychological problems are brought back into the mainstream, again, everyone benefits.
Who knows, maybe the Trump revolution will contribute to some idealists finally starting to find solutions that help some without hurting others.
