In my public lecture this week, among other things, I talked about the challenge we face of how to combine the thinking of expert minds trained to analytical procedures with folk instinct and experience, with redneck chutzpah and intransigence. Both are important and such a combination of thought is unbeatable.

…a combination of the worst of both sides. A combination of arrogant snobbish elitism with ramshackle superstition and superficiality.

But it turns out to be surprisingly difficult in practice. What you get very easily is a combination of the worst of both sides. A combination of arrogant snobbish elitism with ramshackle superstition and superficiality. The two sides are then united by a focus on immediate emotion.

The example of the Czech Republic shows how far this can lead. A group of activists spread absolutely horrible lies about doctors and nurses allegedly concealing simple and cheap cures for covid. That most doctors and nurses are therefore part of some vast conspiracy to inject everyone with a deadly vaccine. It’s turning out the way it was bound to. The occasional individual personal attack and last week someone damaged a medical staff car outside a hospital in Kladno (central Bohemia). These morons probably really believe the Gates empire is crumbling when they insult the nurse from their village. Fuck you, with such a “resistance movement”.
