While it is not common to discuss this, even if Ukraine were to agree to the most unreasonable demands the Russians could make, it would result in saved lives, an improved economic situation, greater personal freedom, the development of national life and increased independence. The issue is not that a compromise is being sought between Ukrainians and Russians. In fact, both sides need the same thing. The line of conflict runs between the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian-European ruling elite.

But who cares about Ukrainians today?
